Where to eat in central Bergen

Bergen is small enough to walk and rich enough to eat well in. Here is how we would plan a day of eating around the harbour — ending, naturally, at our table.
Most of what is worth seeing in Bergen sits within fifteen minutes of the harbour: Bryggen, the Fish Market, Fløibanen, KODE and the old town lanes.
That means you can eat lightly at midday, walk it off, and sit down properly in the evening without ever taking a taxi.
Midday
Small plates and pasta, quick enough between museums.
Afternoon
A glass of wine and focaccia after Mount Fløyen.
Evening
Grill, fresh pasta and a bottle from Piedmont or Sicily.
Rainy day
It rains in Bergen. Kjøttbasaren is warm, dry and vaulted.
Lunch between the sights
Keep lunch light: a couple of antipasti, a plate of pasta and sparkling water. You still have the funicular and the wharf ahead of you.
We serve from 12:00, and the kitchen is quick when you tell us you are in a hurry.
Dinner with local seafood, Italian hands
Norwegian coastal produce treated the Italian way is what we do best — cod, shellfish and cured fish alongside pasta and grill.
The menu is short and changes with the season, so ask what came in that morning.
A glass before or after
Our wine list leans Italian, with bottles from Tuscany, Piedmont and Sicily and Franciacorta by the glass.
The bar is a fine place to wait out a shower with a glass and a plate of olives.
